Following on from their acclaimed LP "Earplay" and the singles "Riverbed Road" and "Deep Space Lament" that featured on the ‘15x15' and ‘Big Issue Festivals' compilations in 2009 (all on Big Chill Recordings), Sheffield's downtempo dons Animat return with a timely wintery slice of electronic chill "A Promise of Snow". Inspired by childhood memories of winter, the title tune is a glockenspiel-led slice of digital soul, built round ambient voice and guitar samples and making atmospheric use of spoken word. The EP features remixes by Vancouver based Verbrilli Sound (Upstairs Recordings), The Beaufort Scale and Removal Company, as well as Animat's own ambient mix, commissioned for the "Quiet Voices" installation at Tate Britain in January. Plus new mixes of favourites "Riverbed Road" and "Heart Shaped Balloons", as well as the rare SonVer remix of "Touch and Go".
